Free Online Stopwatch — Precision Lap Timing & Zen Mode

Press the Start button (or press Space) to begin timing. While the stopwatch is running, press the Lap button (or press L) to record a split time. Each lap is visually marked on the dial and logged with its duration and overall time. The lap tracker panel shows a bar chart of all laps with your fastest, slowest, and average lap times.

Our online stopwatch uses the browser's high-resolution timestamp API combined with requestAnimationFrame for smooth display updates. It tracks time to the millisecond and displays centiseconds (hundredths of a second). The timing is as accurate as your device's system clock, making it suitable for sports timing, lab experiments, coding benchmarks, and everyday use.

Zen Mode hides all UI distractions — navigation, sidebar panels, and footer — leaving only the stopwatch timer face visible against a full-screen background. Press Z or click the Zen button to enter. The overlay displays rotating motivational quotes about time and focus that cycle every 10 seconds. Click Exit Zen or press Esc to return to the normal view.

Simply click anywhere on the stopwatch timer face to cycle through 8 unique display styles: Classic Dial (traditional analog ring), Digital Pro (large bold digits), Progress Bar (horizontal progress), Retro Flip (flip-card style), Neon Ring (minimal glowing ring), Minimal Ghost (ultra-light transparent), White Light (clean white), and Dark Mode (high contrast dark). Your preferred style is saved automatically in your browser. Press C to cycle styles via keyboard.

Yes! The stopwatch uses a combination of Date.now() timestamps and requestAnimationFrame to maintain accurate timing even when you switch tabs or minimize the window. It also requests a screen Wake Lock to prevent your device from sleeping while the timer is running, ensuring uninterrupted timing for workouts, cooking, or presentations.

Absolutely. Click the Fullscreen button (or press F) to enter full screen mode. The timer display becomes large and easy to read from across the room, perfect for classrooms, gyms, sports events, and presentations. The full screen online stopwatch works on all modern browsers.
